World Book Day

World Book Day at Clarendon Junior School 2023

World Book Day was a day filled with book related fun including art and music.  The children  (and adults) dressed up as their favourite book characters and the school was full of students of Hogwarts, characters from Winnie the Pooh and Roald Dahl books to name but a few. It was lovely to see one of the students dressed as a character from the book that their year group did for ‘Take One Book’.

“We can be whatever we want to be!”

I love seeing other people’s costumes and how they have made them.”

“Awesome!”

Each class also took part in a ‘Books through Dance’ workshop with the West End in Schools’ Group (Thursday 2nd, Friday 3rd).  The children spent an hour exploring the book Alice and Wonderland through dance.

“I loved how it was very creative and how the woman helped us”

“It was really fun and I would really like to do it again!”

“It was fun because I was Alice and we were able to do different dance moves.”

“The lady was amazing at dancing and she taught us some good movements to be the characters.”

“I liked pretending to be the playing cards and moving around like them!”
