Wellbeing and Pastoral Support
The Pastoral Support Team is a group of specialist support staff. Between them, they have a wealth of experience of working with children. Our team wants to help your child feel happy in school and to reach their potential educationally. Their aim is to remove the barriers to learning and to have happy children in school and at home.
In our pastoral sessions we aim to provide support for a wide range of emotional needs:
Recognising emotions
Self-esteem
Social skills
Friendship skills
Anger management
Loss and bereavement
Supporting - not fixing
Remember, our Pastoral Team are not here to fix your children's problems. What we can do is provide emotional support through establishing warm, respectful relationships with pupils.
We will also provide a reflective space in the Ocean Room where pupils are able to share their thoughts and feelings.
For children with complex or long-term needs, it is unrealistic to expect our intervention to resolve all their difficulties. However, support will be designed to target specific aspects of a child's needs. Our training and development is an ongoing process and our experience helps us to recognise when issues are beyond our level of expertise. At these times, the school will support parents with possible referrals for specialist counselling, play therapy or to CAMHS.
We may also be able to signpost to other agencies for family support.
Please contact the school office to arrange a meeting with our Pastoral Team on 01980607007.

In September 2023, we were fortunate to secure a grant from the MOD and the Armed Forces Families Fund. This has enabled us to fund a full-time Service Pupil Champion. This offers children in our school with valuable support that comes with being part of a military family.
